I got to know Stephen first through Skype, when the Lawrie clan were still in Australia. So I already liked him when I finally met him. It was easy to like Stephen, his essential decency radiated, even through airwaves. Only when I met him however, did I get to fully appreciate how impressive a human he was. An utter gentleman, who so obviously worshipped his beautiful family and found his centre in their lives. A guy with a ridiculously corny sense of humour which matched mine exactly. A quiet, considerate, gentle soul; very clearly the rock upon which Lorraine and the girls rested. The last thing Stephen did for me was buy me a coffee I had asked for, and a bun I had not asked for. It was just a simple, thoughtful thing he did in case I hadn't eaten when we met. That was the measure of him - thoughtful and considerate. I spent a (now very precious) couple of hours with Stephen and Lorraine; he talked about Mickayla, Krystal and Jessy the whole time with such immense love and pride. Never, ever forget how happy and proud you all made him. You truly were his world. It was an absolute privilege to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
