I was lucky enough to work directly with Steve at Metric. It’s not the least bit surprising to read many of his past colleagues recall how smart, competent, and quietly determined Steve was. No one who knew him will be surprised to know he demonstrated these qualities (and more, of course) in what turned out to be his last role, too. In the relatively short time I knew Steve, it didn’t take long to appreciate what a quality human being he was. A truly honourable gentleman with immense decency and natural class, he stood out for all the right reasons. I’m not surprised to read that my view of Steve was common of those who knew him. I can only begin to imagine the despair that has rooted in those who were fortunate to be loved by Steve. I wish could offer something more useful than just my very deepest condolences. Rest in peace and thank you, Steve. Though, I wish I’d seen the perm in time to tease you about it.
