I first met Steve in the late 1980s and built a working association with him that lasted until 2012. He was unique and embodied that Australian resourcefulness for finding a way to deliver an outcome many thought impossible.
It is somewhat poignant, that we are remembering his life just a few weeks away from another Melbourne Cup.  No annual event illustrated more Steve’s commitment to supporting and enabling important and highly visible business outcomes.
 It was not about elegant solutions for Steve.  So much of what he contributed was about getting outcomes which allowed a succession of both wagering/betting and lotteries business acquisitions in Australia to come together like never before.
 Yes, there were shortcuts and the sense that we were reaching for the barbed wire to hold things together for a while. Resourcefulness does that!
Getting it done was just part of Steve’s demeanour.  He listened, committed and kept his balance.  No show pony here!  A genuine guy who garnered huge respect within the TABQ, Unitab and Tatts community! Thanks, Steve!
